Founder/Director

San Covington is at the helm of Kids and Adolescents Resource Enrichment (K.A.R.E.) Foundation, Inc., overseeing its day-to-day operations. Her professional journey has been deeply rooted in the child welfare sector, specifically within the second-largest county in Georgia. With unwavering commitment, Covington has dedicated over 19 years of her career to safeguarding the welfare of children who have endured abuse and neglect, tirelessly striving to ensure their safety, well-being, and permanent placement.

 

Throughout her tenure in the child welfare system, Covington has played a pivotal role in connecting children and their families with essential community resources, whenever necessary, fostering their journey towards becoming successful and cohesive family units. Additionally, she has solidified her standing as a valued contractual partner for DeKalb County Government, Georgia, collaborating closely with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). This partnership involves the ongoing assessment of children in the foster care system as they navigate the path to a permanent plan within the Juvenile Court system.

 

Covington’s academic pursuits mirror her dedication to the field, as she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Furthermore, she has acquired her Master’s degree, also in Social Work from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, continually enhancing her expertise and knowledge. In addition, Covington’s internship experiences include assignments with the Professional Development Department at The Division of Family and Children Services, as well as Intensive Case Management at The Department of Veteran Affairs.

 

Covington’s ethos is firmly aligned with K.A.R.E.’s guiding motto: “Empowering Children & Families, Strengthening Communities.” She remains resolutely committed to this cause, tirelessly working to empower and uplift those she serves.
