LGBTQ Kids and Adolescents are in Need of Support Too!
Yes, we said it! And frankly, we will not change our stance on the fact that LGBTQ+ youth are in fact, in need of love and support too!
Studies have shown that when youth do not have the support needed to thrive as individuals, especially LGBTQ+ youth, we see a growing number of children who suffer from abuse/neglect, depression, homelessness, substance use, untreated mental health needs, and even suicidal attempts.
Therefore, when a youth decides to share their sexual orientation or gender identity, making the decision to come “out of the closet”, lets make sure we are accepting of their decision and seek any services needed for them to thrive in their environments and community.
The K.A.R.E. Foundation was established to work with LGBTQIA+ children and their families who may find it difficult to positively maintain in their homes and community, making appropriate connections to community services due to their sexual identity choice.
